Saona Island Dive & Snorkel Excursion

Saona Island Excursion

Saona Island is probably the most famous attraction in the Dominican Republic, and for good reason! The dives are world class and the beaches are paradise! This excursion is perfect for divers and snorkelers from the Bayahibe, Dominicus, La Romana, Punta Cana and Bavaro areas. It is a full day tour that will take you to a wreck dive/snorkel as well as our favorite dive site called Peñon. After the dives we go have lunch on Saona Island and enjoy some beach time.

We meet at our dive shop and everybody makes sure they have their equipment, our team will help you get the right gear and we will load everything on the boat while you meet your dive/snorkel guide and get the dive briefing of the day.

Our first stop is the Atlantic Princess. This small wreck is perfect for the first wreck experience for beginner divers. Experienced divers do not have to worry, there is plenty of life and even some wreck penetration to do at this site. The wreck is at 12m (36ft) at it's deepest point so on a clear day even the snorkelers can enjoy the site.

We will make our way towards Saona Island and stop at one of the dive sites that you cannot miss during your dive trip - Peñon! This gorgeous reef is full of life, there are 3 dive sites at Peñon from 12m - 18m (36ft - 54ft). The dive guides and captain will decide which site looks the best on the day. Expect to see healthy reef and lots of interesting small and medium sized sealife.

We head to Catuano Beach on Saona Island. We will have a Dominican beach BBQ that consists of rice, pasta, grilled chicken, pork chops, potatoes, salad, fruit and bread. After lunch the snorkelers can enjoy a dip at the old pier which is great for seeing fish in large numbers. Relax on the beach or even do some artisan shopping or get a massage - Saona Island has something for everyone.

After some relaxing beach time under the Caribbean sun it is time to visit the Natural Pool. A Saona Island Tour is not complete without a visit to this special place! See the gorgeous Red Cushion Starfish while standing waist deep on a sand bank in the middle of the National Park. These starfish are real and should be handled with care. Drinks and snacks are served. After a full day in the Caribbean Waters it is time to head back to Bayahibe. When you get back to the Bayahibe harbor all you have to do is make your way back to the dive shop, our team will take care of your gear.
